FAQ

Body Mind Boot Camp (BMBC)

How will joining your Body Mind Boot Camp benefit me?  There are too many that I will list the two most requested by a client.

First reason, depending on the time of year, if you are like most people you want a quick, fast effective way to sculpt your body into something worthy of the beach.  Seeing yourself on the beach, soaking up the sun instead of hiding under a blanket is my guess.  I am sure you have heard that if you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.  On hand you will have a CSEP certified personal trainer who will be there for you right to the end of your workout.  I have done the work myself and I have had great success.

Second reason,  at some point your mind may want to shut down and go back to your old behavior.  This is where we differ from the rest.  On hand you will have a certified Life Coach who will be there for you when you need it the most.  Together we have teamed up and come up with a solid, kick-butt program we call, “This Year I Will…”.  This program will not only target your entire physique but also give your mind a better than fine tune up.  Now, you can’t put a price on that?

Please read my bio http://www.whynotthrive.ca/blog/about-carol-collin/ and testimonials  http://www.whynotthrive.ca/blog/testimonials/ allow me to get you the kind of results your looking for.

Why should I join your Body Mind Boot Camp over a Fitness Facility/Gym?  Signing up with us is a one-time deal and they come with a one-time price tag.  No contracts!  You don’t have to commit to a chunk of your paycheck between now and eternity to meet your fitness goals.  You get your own csep certified personal trainer and a certified life coach to make sure that you don’t have a bad day.

How do I pay?  Please email Carol at carol@whynotthrive.ca to make arrangements to meet on location at Maximum Health and Nutrition at 13050 St. Albert Trail.  Payment can be made by cash or cheque (made payable to Why Not Thrive Inc.)   Pay pal also available.  Payment must be made in full before the first class.   Early birds save money!  Sign up before December 31/10 and receive half off the total cost in the spirit of Christmas.

When is your Body Mind Boot Camp(s) held?   Every BMBC is a total committment of 3 months.  The next BMBC is  dubbed, “This Year I Will…” You must register and be paid in full before or on the first day of class.  The class begins on January 10/11 and ends on April 01/11.  The class will be held at:  St.Vincent Elementary School located at 10530-138 Street.  Please send a request at carol@whynotthirve.ca if you would like to see camps held in your area.

What is expected on the first day?  Day one is our introduction to “This Year I Will..”  We believe in making everyone feel welcome no matter what your level of fitness is.  Challenging creative routines and themes fit for your body and mind have been designed to allow everyone to work within their own limits.  You do have control at how hard you push yourself and what intensity level you maintain throughout the class.  You will be led by a CSEP certified personal trainer (Carol Collin) and a certified Life Coach (Carolyn Collin) who will motivate you to reach your personal best.

What can I expect in 3 months?

The first part of the class (5-530pm) will be led by Carol Collin and consist of a 30 min routine(s) that will rev up your fat-burning oven, challenge every muscle using dynamic movements, strengthen your upper and lower body while targeting your core, improve your balance and co-ordination through small simple movements.  You will be rewarded with a 15 min stretch that will relieve tight muscles while improving your posture.  Carol has created many different fun routines that will leave you feeling fabulous.

The last part of class (530-6pm) will be led by Carolyn Collin and consist of a 30 min theme(s) that will have you dreaming of bigger better things for yourself and others such as; taking action, reshaping your life, creating a compelling future, weekly recipe challenges, expansion, self expression, celebrating yourself and many more awe-inspiring ideas to help you succeed on your journey.

How do I know if will be able to keep up?  Have no fear; every body mind exercise that is given can always be modified to suit your ability.  As the weeks go by you will gain more confidence making a dramatic improvement in your mental and physical well-being.  You will also meet some amazing people who share in the same vision to creating a healthier body and mind.  We do suggest that you start to add in daily activites that raise your heart on the days that you are not in class.  Remember you don’t need to be in a gym to exercise but you do need to have an open mind and a ‘No Matter What’ mind set to pass this class.

How can I be sure that I will reach my fitness goals?  There are a few factors that will contribute to your ultimate success as long as you follow it like a road map.

First, nutrition is above all the most important because you cannot out-train a lousy diet.  In order to get you to your ultimate goal this is a fact you have to swallow.  A healthy approach to weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week.  Adjusting your eating habits to include whole foods and grains, replacing refined sugars with complex carbs and getting plenty of lean protein.

Next, you will need activities that burn calories, maintain/promote muscle mass and elevate metabolism.  That is why I use Metabolic Resistance Training aka EPOC(Exercise Post Oxygen Consumption) in my boot camps. My goal is to work every muscle group hard, frequently and with enough intensity that it creates a colossal  “metabolic disturbance” or “afterburn” that it leaves the metabolism elevated long after your workout ended.  The key is consistency and intensity to achieve fabulous results.

Last, make a decision to do it.  Do your homework!    Anothony Robbins states that, “Decision is the ultimate power because you can know something intelectually and still not use or do anything about it.  Society has the mindset is that our past equals the future.  Course it does if you choose to live there but know that our decisions shape our destiny.” Decide today to recreate your future.

What do I do when my 3 months ends?  Fitness is a way of life and not meant to be a quick fix.  After the 3 months you will have the momentum and confidence to keep going.  You will find that you will get more use out of your 3 months routine then a gym membership.  Most participants will sign up year round; whatever their situation is.  You will have worked your biggest muscle; your mind.  All personal breakthroughs begin in the mind.  The secret to your motivation to continue will be up to you.  If you are not ready to go out on your own you can always sign up for the next BMBC.

What if I have an old or existing injury?  Depending on the severity of your injury you may need to contact your family doctor before engaging in any physical activity.  If you have any shoulder or lower back injuries or issues please contact you doctor before beginning any exercise program.  The exercise portion of the program may not be suitable for individuals with such limitations as most exercises will require good shoulder mobility and the ability to move in all planes of motion pain free.  Hiring a personal trainer for one on one sessions is suggested so that you can receive the kind of care needed to strengthen not hinder your progress when starting a exercise routine.

What if the weather is bad?  (N/A)  Edmonton weather can be unpredictable.  Depending on the weather such as when there is a severe thunderstorm, fierce wind, sandstorm, or a tornado has touched down, I think it would be best if we all stayed inside.  If you are unsure about the weather the day of your scheduled boot camp; such as the wind has picked up I have come up with a quick test.  It does involve one step on your part:  Take your Yoga matt outside and lay it flat on your lawn for one minute or two.  If you come back to it and it is no longer there…there is a pretty good chance that class is cancelled and now you have to buy a new matt, lol.  Friends that’s the cost of fitness and your first lesson of the day.  We do have a back up plan in such cases; St.Vincent Elementary School located at 10530-138 Street.  Please call if you are unsure.

What if I am late? Would you be late for your own wedding? I didn’t think so.  Treat this class as any special occasion.  If you are late than slide on in and I will not point at you or call you out on it.  It is far better to get in a half hour than having done nothing at all.  I will give you a take home assignment that must be signed and completed before next class for your tardiness.  Only kidding!  However, do keep in mind that both parts are extremly important on your success.

What is your refund policy?  I do not offer cash refunds.  However, life happens so in specific cases e.g. a medical condition you will be offered a credit to for the sessions you missed.  You can make arrangements to make up for the sessions at a later date when you are back in good health.

Can I request my own private Body Mind Boot Camp for special occasions?  If you would like a fun fabulous evening with your closest friends for any fit occasion contact carol@whynotthrive.ca.  We can work together to make the experience as big and crazy as you want.  As an incentive when you bring the party to me, you will receive 1 hour of private personal training ($75 value) on location at Why Not Thrive Inc.

Do you offer Gift Certificates?  Yes, I offer gift certificates. If you know of anyone that would like the gift of fitness please send a request at carol@whynotthrive.ca or inquire within.
